Invisible Drifts
Site specific installation for Museu de Arte, Arquitetura and Tecnologia MAAT, Lisbon (2022)
Art project developed as a member of Basurama collective
Derivas Invisibles is a site specific installation for MAAT Museum reflecting on the huge amount of marine debris in our oceans’ ecosystems, increasingly contaminated especially by fishing nets and gadgets, that constitutes an 85% of the sea pollution.
The project is an urban scale fishing cage, traditionally used by fishers to catch crabs or lobsters. With a metallic skeleton of welded stainless steel, Derivas Invisibles was built with the traditional sewing techniques used to make these fishing cages, with a real fishing net recovered from the sea.
